Information about Alex
I am a professional historian specialising in modern history. I hold a PhD in American Studies and History and have four years of experience teaching undergraduate students on a range of modern history topics. I am an active researcher and strive to utilise a methodology of research-led teaching. I have published a monograph and two articles on topics relating to the history of the United States and have served as an examiner for OCR and assessed GCSE-level history exams.
Although I am able to tutor students on any aspect of modern history, I specialise in the history of the United States, international relations, the First World War, and empire and imperialism. I am an approachable tutor with a track record of positive feedback from undergraduate students.
For GCSE and A-level students, I can provide tuition on understanding historical narratives, source analysis, and writing effective answers to exam and coursework questions.
For undergraduate students, I can provide assistance on writing essay assignments, reconciling with historiography, and developing effective research strategies.
