Information about Clare
I have a passion for supporting those students who find their learning challenging (with or without a specific learning difficulty). I enjoy helping to ease their stress and frustration by seeking out suitable tailored strategies to support their learning.
My approach to tutoring:
I believe everyone learns differently so I take a flexible and multi sensory approach to ensure I meet your needs.
You can expect the following:
- A personalised and targeted programme designed to meet your specific needs.
- A nurturing environment, with an emphasis on making learning fun.
- Regular feedback on learning and progress.
- A comfortable and supportive learning environment.
Availability: During school term time please contact me for availability as I work various part time hours.
Over the school holidays (half terms, Easter and Summer holidays) please contact me for my availability.
During holiday times and sometimes during term time I would also be willing to offer more intensive tutoring programs. These would be tailored to the student.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I live in West Oxfordshire and have recently been teaching in a part time role supporting students with specific learning difficulties for a further education college. I have been teaching for 17 years and graduated with an English degree in 1994 From the University of Southampton. I gained my PGCE in 2003 with Oxford Brookes University and a Diploma in Teaching Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties in 2017.
I have taught in a variety of environments including two other colleges in Oxfordshire, the Oxfordshire Dyslexia Association, and Thames Valley Probation Service. My experience is with a broad range of students from primary to post compulsory education sectors and includes young people who are looked after and those who have been excluded.
I am also able to deliver study skills for GCSE, A Level and Access students and work based skills for adults wishing to develop in the workplace. Please contact me for details.

Clare took a great deal of time and effort to read through EP reports and school reports, as well as talking to us, to ensure she tailored the tuition to our son`s needs. She used innovative methods to help him in the areas he was finding most challenging.
Clare is always helpful, friendly and professional, and our son enjoyed his sessions with her. I would recommend Clare as a tutor.
Tutors Response :
Thank you very much for your feedback. I am delighted the sessions were enjoyable and useful. Your son is a pleasure to teach and I look forward to working with him in the future.

Lovely to meet Clare. Very impressed with level of research Clare had done( reading through many pages of school reports and assessments) before our initial meeting. She was well prepared and showed a good level of understanding of the needs of a dyslexic pupil.
Tutors Response :
Thank you very much for your kind comments. Very best wishes for the future.
