Information about Ashwarya

I am currently a second-year Medical Student at the University of Manchester. Previously, I have attained a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) from St George`s, University of London, in Biomedical Science, with a specialisation in Cell and Molecular Biology.

I firmly believe that each student is unique, thus it is integral that each study session is carefully tailored to fit the individual. My aim is to supplement the student`s current learning with a friendly approach. Currently, I will not be travelling to meet students, however, I will continue my services online. Each session will be meticulously planned, and a list of learning objectives will be tailored to suit the session. In this manner, it will be much easier to identify the subjects that the student is struggling with and will need more attention to detail. At the beginning of a session, I will outline the plan of the session, and if the student wants to change the direction of the lesson to allow a better approach for their learning, then I will also accommodate for this. This student-centred approach will be highly beneficial.

In my spare time, I enjoy singing, reading and working out. These activities are essential to me to prevent burn-out and provide an avenue in which I can relieve my stress. I have also completed Grade 8 Classical Singing (ABRSM) and Grade 6 Piano (ABRSM). Recently, I also competed in a inter-university dance competition. It is crucial to have great organisational skills to accommodate time for all of these activities, displaying my time management and commitment. I wish to apply the same skills to my tutoring sessions.

Availability: Each weekday from 9am and most weekends between 12-5pm.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: During my Biomedical Science degree, I had many opportunities to organise small teaching sessions for fellow students; the topics included Cell and Molecular Biology and Reproductive Medicine. As the previous president of a society, I have had the experience of organising and running my own events, showing managerial skills.
I am a graduate entry medical student, and I have undertaken the UCAT (formerly known as the UKCAT) examination twice and obtained a high average score both times. I have also interviewed at 5 different medical schools and obtained an offer from each one. Both of these elements are crucial to getting a place at medical school and I am happy to tutor for both. Academically, I have recently passed my last set of medical school examinations.
Through my many years of experience, I can give tips and tricks to students that can help them develop, both academically and personally.
