Liam

I recently graduated from Oxford with a First Class degree in Music, achieving the highest grade in my year group. I am currently studying for an MA at Goldsmiths, London, and am an active jazz musician and researcher.

I have achieved high grades in all of my qualifications from GCSE, A-Level to my undergraduate degree. I am trained in classical piano, analysis, and especially in music theory, but my specialisms are in jazz, ethnomusicology and sociocultural studies of music. I am an actively performing jazz pianist and academic researcher in jazz studies. This combination of interests make me well suited to the breadth of GCSE, A-Level, and university admissions, and I enjoy being able to fuse them together.

Availability: I am generally available in evenings and at weekends.

Experience: I have five-years` experience as a private tutor for piano, music theory, GCSE maths and GCSE and A-Level music. I have coached two students through their GCSE maths courses, two for GCSE music, and one A-Level music student. The latter was during the pandemic, and undertaken entirely virtually. I have taken on three beginner piano students, and incorporated music theory into my lessons.

In sixth-form, I set up and ran a coursework help lunchtime session helping students with their composition. At university, I`ve done paid and voluntary work as an access ambassador, involving work at Open Days, Offer Holder Days, and Access and Outreach Events. This has given me experience in application advice and with prospective students. As part of my degree, I`ve been trained and assessed in teaching music in schools, giving me professional experience in using technology in teaching.
