My name is Calypso, I am 25 years old and I am a French expat who lives in Northampton.

I am currently finishing my Master’s degree in English at the University of Western Brittany (Université de Bretagne Occidentale). Throughout my studies and my different experiences, I have gained a wide range of academic and professional skills. I was a substitute teacher in a French Lycée where I taught English to Year 12 pupils. Last year, I was teaching English and at University to 2nd and 3rd year students in Management. As part of my degree I have studied French as a foreign language (FLE). During my undergraduate degree, I spent a year in Edinburgh where I tutored students and gave conversational lessons as well. A couple of years ago, I also volunteered to give French lessons in a charity helping foreign isolated minors. I am currently working as a French assistant in a local secondary school where I mainly help students preparing their GCSE and A-Level.

Teaching as always been an ambition as I believe learning new languages helps people grow as individuals. I have already had the opportunity to work with children, teenagers and young-adults from absolute beginners to advanced level. Through these experiences I have learned to adapt to different personalities using various learning methods (both instructive and playful) so that my students feel comfortable and build confidence. I am a cheerful and creative person and I would be glad to convey French culture and language.
I am happy to tutor people of all ages and levels (speaking and writing).
