Information about Bethany
I`m a fourth year medical student at St Anne`s College, Oxford, originally from Sheffield in South Yorkshire. I enjoy netball, films and travelling.
I would like to first meet with the student and discuss their strengths and weaknesses, areas that they feel need support and the priority outcomes required from my sessions. I will produce an action plan based on specific requirements and the planned time allocation. For students who are preparing for exams, I will review topic areas and key skills and spend time working through questions together. I will end the sessions by giving the student questions to answer under timed conditions as homework each week which we will then go through at the beginning of the next session. This gives me an idea of whether the session has been successfully understood or if the topic requires further revision. Sessions can be more flexible and relaxed if preferred.
Availability: Evenings and weekends
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I come from a family of teachers so have spent lots of time working in schools and working with children one-to-one and in small groups. Last year, I taught English as an additional language through Oxford`s Jacari scheme which involved one session a week in reading and writing. I also have experience working with children with special educational needs including autism. I am currently learning makaton to aid communication with non-verbal children.
