Information about Scott
I am a qualified and experienced alternative home education provider teaching Maths, English, Sociology, Health and Social Care and ICT from Prep and Key Stage 3, though to GCSE (predominately foundation papers for Maths), BTEC, IGCSE, Functional Skills and A Level (English) across all the major Exam Boards including ASDAN. I can also support preparations for GCSE re-sits and School Entrance Exams. In addition to this, I am also able teach, support or mentor children in years 5 & 6.
I have worked in a multitude of environments including Mainstream Schools (Woodbrook Vale School being the latest), PRU`s, Alternative Providers, Colleges and Private Training Providers, also teaching students with Emotional, Social and Behavioural Difficulties, students with mild Special Educational Needs and looked after children. With this experience I bring with me an understanding of the differing needs my students may have and an understanding of the difficulties my students may face within their own lives.
I offer students a friendly and welcoming experience with the student having dual control over what is being taught with opportunities to discuss any external elements that maybe affecting their studies.
I teach all aspects of the curriculum and non-curriculum areas such as spelling and reading. I can also help students become better public speakers looking at presentation techniques and presentation methods. With Health and Social Care, I can teach either GCSE or BTEC Level 2. Once you have completed your exams, I offer post school guidance in Employability Skills, which includes CV preparation, Interview techniques and interview preparation.
I hold the City and Guilds Level 5 DTLLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector), (2010). I have extensive SEN experience, holding the Advanced Diploma in Special Educational Needs (2018). I am currently studying Mental Health in Children and Young People.
