Experience: Hannah is an enthusiastic and motivated RQT English teacher seeking a position within a school with a love for learning and a passionate environment.

Hannah has completed her NQT year at The Westleigh School where she thoroughly enjoyed the challenge behind teaching young people to strive to their potential. Hannah flourished to become a confident and whole-hearted teacher. She gained positive relationships with both colleagues and students, which was evident through her teaching practice.

A major achievement Hannah achieved during her NQT year, was providing CPD to her colleagues on INSET day, regarding the use of strategic seating plans to support the differentiation of learning for students. This was as a result of a strength identified during an observation with her SLT link and mentor. Hannah uses the strategic seating plans as a working document, to annotate the strengths and weaknesses of the students throughout the term and year, but also successful behaviour strategies to implement for individual students.

In addition, Hannah regularly acted upon her observation feedback which allowed her to progress and develop her practice to a significant standard; using assessment for learning strategies and tactical questioning to allow students understanding to be challenged and provide evidence for an individual’s progress. Hannah’s continuous development of her own teaching practice continued into her RQT year, which was adapted to provide engagement to learning and continue student progress despite the physical restrictions within the classroom.

Hannah provided accurate and productive use of assessment and moderation during lessons and department briefings. Hannah gave oral and written feedback for both KS3 and KS4. She designed and delivered D.I.R.T lessons to provide students with the opportunity to respond to their feedback and develop their work. Hannah’s experience teaching Year 11, following the AQA exam board, evidences her excellent subject knowledge for both English Language and Literature. Hannah’s experience marking mock papers then allowed her to adapt her interleave plans to ensure that all students develop upon their prior learning. Hannah’s average mock grade for her Year 11 class for English Language and Literature was a 4=. This was a whole grade increase from their end of Year 10 mocks.

Ultimately, Hannah’s determination and eagerness towards her own learning development, will be mirrored into her future career, and the development of the students. Teaching English to an 11-16 age range, allows the students to explore a deeper understanding of the subject, providing them with academic skills such as analysis and critical reading which will be essential through their upcoming education.
