Information about Stepan
Since 2012 I have worked as a teacher in a specialist interim school for students not in mainstream education. In my role I am the sole teacher for students in 1:1 classes. I design their work schedule in accordance with curriculums and the students` needs. I also set and assess coursework and field trips for the exam board. I have extensive experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Many of our clients at the interim school have SEND. I also specialise in home schooling programmes.
I have achieved academic excellence for myself and hope to help others achieve their best too. My personal academic track record is: First Class Undergraduate Degree. 4 A*s at A level and 11 A*s at GCSE.
As a native Russian speaker I offer lessons to anyone who would like to learn the language, regardless of their level.
From my time tutoring I have identified two primary obstacles to pupils fulfilling their potential. A lack of confidence and teaching not tailored to the preferred learning style of the pupil. These two obstacles are best overcome if tackled simultaneously. By identifying my pupil`s learning style and strengths I hope to demonstrate to my pupils their unique potential and capitalise on it. On numerous occasions my tutees have actually exceeded their initial expectations of their progress.
My most successful strategy with pupils has been to maintain a shifting focus and lesson structure depending on what conclusions I draw from regular assessment of my pupil. As an aspiring artist I value creativity and implement it in my teaching - I am always trying out new methods if current ones are not bringing the best possible results.
I hold an enhanced DBS check. Available upon request.

Although Stepan is clearly very knowledgeable about his subject, unfortunately we were very disappointed that despite significant monetary investment our son did not progress at all. There was also no text or call after the results to see how it went. Not a very caring attitude.
Tutors Response :
Hi Lesley,
I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the tuition. Tutors usually expect a student to go up at least a grade at A level after a year of tuition. As we started tuition only in the Spring term, it was difficult for William to improve significantly. I must also remind you that it is the responsibility of students to complete homework and tasks set in the tutorial, something that William never did.
As to not contacting you regarding the results, I was in a serious Road Traffic Accident that summer and was unable to contact you until now.
I hope your son is doing well.
All the best,
Stepan
