This is my third year formally tutoring via this site but I have tutored informally for a number of years.
I am currently tutoring six GCSE students through their final year at school. Exams loom in November for the majority of them so there is a lot to do in a short space of time! One of the students is more mature, resitting maths after two failed attempts in the last few years. Mature students are just as welcome as younger students - I have helped mature students at work and tutored a few through HNC/HND courses. So if you are rusty, a bit lost at work, resitting maths GCSE, whatever your reasons and whatever your needs, I can help!
I am also tutoring two A level students at A2 level. I think I now prefer tutoring at A level, having initially specialised in GCSE. I had a lot of fun going through all the past papers on C3, C4 and S2 earlier this year with Max, an A2 student from last year!
My approach to tutoring focuses on the exams (past papers etc) because that is the objective - to do as well in the exams as possible. But it would start with an assessment of where the student is - their strengths and weaknesses, how they learn etc. The key then is to put together a plan for the individual and then monitor progress against the plan.
Availability: I generally tutor during the week, any time from say 4pm to 8pm.
I am available during the day as well if that is more convenient.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have a wealth of experience in learning/teaching/mentoring gained in nearly 35 years as a Government Statistician. I have a lot of experience in lecturing/presentations and communicating difficult concepts in a way that aids understanding. I have even presented key Government statistics live on television! I also regularly coached/mentored members of my team through the in-house statistical training course (O/A level).
I have also tutored informally outside work over the years, with my own children and numerous friends and colleagues. I started tutoring more formally when I retired nearly 4 years ago.

Excellent tutor who is very professional and punctual and knows his job very well.
What a lovely guy. Would definitely recommend Harry.
Very happy, he is an excellent tutor. My son has been having lessons for the past couple of weeks and they have built a really good rapport.
Harry is really lovely, very friendly and approachable. He`s incredibly calm, listens well and can break things down well. He was very kind to me and I would recommend.
Fantastic tutor! Harry helped me with GCSE and A level maths for an entry exam (which I`ve just passed!) and nothing was ever to much trouble. I`ve always struggled with maths, failing in school at GCSE level but Harry has a great way of explaining things and at times when I couldnt get my head around something, he would find another way to explain the concept.
My only regret is not having him there years ago when I was sitting my GCSEs.
Harry is an excellent tutor. He helped me through my A2 year of Maths (C2, C3, C4, S2). I would recommend him to anyone! His great teaching style and excellent notes made me feel 100% prepared for the exams I sat! Absolutely excellent!!
Needed a tutor for my year 10 son. Harry is very patient and my son enjoys his style of teaching. Would recommend.
Lovely gentleman who has made my 14 year old boy feel comfortable and relaxed while learning.
