Information about Harry
This is my eighth year formally tutoring via this site but I have tutored informally for a number of years. I really enjoy tutoring - I love the subject and I love making a difference to my students! I love tutoring A level maths in particular, especially statistics and mechanics. A number of students struggle with these topics. I am here to help!
I tutor maths at KS3, GCSE and A level. I have also tutored mature students and other exam levels - basically, whatever your age and whatever course you are doing, I can help you if you are struggling with maths!
My approach to tutoring focuses on the exams or assessments, whether internal or external, because that is the objective - to do as well in the exams as possible. But it would start with an assessment of where the student is - their strengths and weaknesses, how they learn etc. The key then is to put together a plan for the individual and then monitor progress against the plan.
Availability: I generally tutor during the week, any time from say 4pm to 8pm.
I am available during the day as well if that is more convenient.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have a wealth of experience in learning/teaching/mentoring gained in nearly 35 years as a Government Statistician. I have a lot of experience in lecturing/presentations and communicating difficult concepts in a way that aids understanding. I have even presented key Government statistics live on television! I also regularly coached/mentored members of my team through the in-house statistical training course (GCSE/A level). I frequently tutored family and friends informally.
I started tutoring more formally when I retired 7 years ago. I have tutored a number of students in that time - KS3, GCSE and A level; WJEC, AQA and Excel examination boards; school-age and mature students etc etc - my feedback on this site demonstrates my commitment and my experience.
