Information about Matthew

I am passionate about teaching and helping people to achieve their best. I am patient, positive, enthusiastic, encouraging and nurturing and always aim to make learning as enjoyable as possible. I am ambitious for all learners and aim to help them develop their knowledge and self-belief in order to feel confident and successful in their learning.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching Upper Key Stage 2 for 6 years. In that time, I have a lot of experience in preparing children for their end of KS2 SATs and have excellent subject knowledge in the KS2 content within the core subjects.
During my teaching career, I have also had experience as a member of the senior leadership team as curriculum lead, meaning that I have a good understanding of the National Curriculum and how learning progresses through a child`s school journey.
Additionally to this, I also have 6 years experience as a Science and Music lead.

I have spent the last two years as a Science educational content writer, so again have good subject knowledge in primary science and where this also progresses into KS3. I am extremely passionate about Science.

Additionally to my teaching degree, I also have a first class honours degree in musical theatre, which has also led me to offer private singing lessons after undertaking additional training courses in vocal pedagogy and vocal pathology.

My approach:

My aim is to empower the learner to feel confident in their knowledge and abilities and foster a passion and enthusiasm for their learning. I am a big believer in ensuring that children understand both the what and the why to give context to their learning and make it purposeful.

I believe that involving the learner in their targets and progress is essential and so I aim to be transparent in how we are breaking down the learning and celebrating the little wins along the way. This gives a shared ownership, which will hopefully make those successes even more rewarding for the learner.

I aim to bring positivity and enthusiasm to every session offering a calm, patient and nurturing environment where learners will feel safe to take risks with their learning and push themselves to achieve their best.
