Benedict

I am a passionate historian and graduate of Queen Mary College, University of London where I studied Modern History. The degree was unique in its eclectic offering of courses and disciplines. My own specialities are 20th Century British and European political history, Russian history, and Tudor history. Upon graduation, I worked in a law firm before spending several months travelling in America. When I returned to England I decided to combine my love of food and travel, providing catering services as a head chef for private events which gave me the flexibility to work and travel. Having turned my attention to teaching and tutoring, I plan on embarking upon a PGCE in September.

Experience: Throughout 6th Form and my time at University, I was involved in academic and pastoral mentoring schemes which sparked my passion for teaching and tutoring. My tutoring began with various younger family members and their friends and I then decided to offer my services in a more official capacity. Having studied an incredibly varied degree, I`d be happy to tutor in all history, politics or religious studies courses. I am comfortable with all exam boards and am up to date with the new A Level specification requirements, and would be happy to assist with coursework as well as exam technique. I believe it is crucial to work alongside their current teachers and school in order to get the most effective results, but also to bring my own teaching style to the lessons. Getting to know the student is also absolutely paramount and allows me to cater each lesson to the individual. Sparking the interest or imagination of the student is more than half the battle, and I believe it necessary to use a wide range of resources to do this. I provide a complimentary consultation in order to meet the tutee and parents/guardians so that we can lay out expectations for the lessons.
