Information about Carla
I am a confident, reliable and motivated person with a friendly personality and the desire to help others learn.
As evidenced by my current work position and previous work experience, I am able to easily develop good working relationships people and am capable of delivering results. I am also able to effectively organise myself and manage my time.
My academic training in the field of Art, and my previous experience teaching it as an educational subject, paired with my own interest in craft hobbies, equips me with the skills to effectively tutor Art.
My current work position has allowed me to develop my problem solving skills and enhance my interpersonal and communication skills. I feel it also demonstrates my ability to develop positive relationships with young people. The ability to be adaptable, resilient and unflappable is evidenced by my capacity to develop strategies at short notice when current methods are ineffective.
Availability: Due to my current job role, I am only available in the evenings from 6 `o` clock. This will change at the beginning of July when the academic year comes to an end.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: My current position as a General Lecturer and previous role as an Additional Support Assistant means that I have experience aiding Further Education students with learning needs at a range of levels from Entry level to Level 4, across a range of subjects including:
IT
Graphics
Child Care
Forensic Science.
I work with the student to plan and develop strategies to aid and support their learning in order to provide them with the skills to become a more independent learner and person.
My current job role means that I am constantly working with students who have additional learning needs. Some of these students have been diagnosed as having Aspergerâs syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). A number of my students also have spelling and reading difficulties. I ensure that resources are stimulating and that strategies are integrated into our class sessions in order to maintain their motivation, focus, development and enjoyment in the subject.
I also have experience teaching the theory and practice of Art and photography within a college setting both through volunteering and during the completion of my PGCE. I have mentored Foundation degree students in the completion of work and the learning of new skills, whilst also running small ceramic workshops with primary school children.
