Information about Greg
I am passionate about my subjects.
My motto is "Enjoy, Understand, Retain and Apply. I like to use interesting material, props and visuals to make problems as engaging and tangible as possible.
I am told that I am very approachable and tutor in a way that enables students to feel at ease and learn rapidly. I work quickly through topics that a student finds easy to grasp, but I also have the patience to explain points many times from many perspectives when required.
In Science I often begin with an engaging overview, from inside the atom to beyond the universe, giving an understanding of how all the topics fit together.
In Maths I tend to tackle the more challenging topics on a level that is easy to access and then progress in manageable steps to an advanced level, which then remains within reach. I keep a note of the particular topics that a student finds difficult to retain and ensure that those are kept fresh in their memory. As the exams approach we include careful attention to exam technique.
In English I help students to use sound linguistic techniques and impeccable language, and equip them to obtain outstanding marks by finding deep insights into poetry/prose and adding that something extra into original writing.
I can go through a complete tour of the syllabus and identify the gaps to be remedied. Alternatively, I can either use set homework as a framework, or give a head start in topics about to be covered in class, or explain topics that were hard to follow at school. It can be difficult for a pupil to stop a class in order ask for difficult points to be re-explained, but in a one-to-one session I can give individual attention and go at exactly the pace needed.
Availability: Tutoring is my sole livelihood. I work weekdays from 3-9pm and throughout the day on Saturdays. If requested I can also provide some daytime sessions.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I am enhanced DBS-checked, subscribe to the up-to-the minute Update Service and qualified to Honours Degree level. I have references from students, parents and teachers.
DBS Check: Yes

Hello Greg,
I just wanted to let you know that Harry passed his Maths GCSE. He couldn`t have done it without you and all the extra support you gave him, especially after his accident. I will definitely be recommending you to anyone I know looking for an excellent tutor.
Many thanks from all of us.
