Information about Richard Jonathan

Hello! I`m a qualified Modern Languages teacher with QTS and currently work full-time at a secondary school. I have 3 years experience of teaching in the UK school system (excluding my training year) and have taught up to GCSE. However, I can also teach up to A-Level and beyond. I have an MA in Translation Studies (French and Spanish) and a BA with Hons in Modern Languages (French and Spanish). I have lived in both France and Spain, the latter for several years working in various schools (primaries and a secondary) as a British Council Language Assistant. I love travelling and meeting new people. As well as being knowledgeable about French and Spanish languages and cultures, I feel I`m a very sociable person and enjoy using my approachability and sense of humour in the classroom. Despite my overwhelming love of languages they don`t actually come naturally to me, I only studied French at school and I found it really difficult for a long time; as such I feel in an excellent position to help learners navigate the trickier parts of language learning and understand that language learning can at sometimes feel frustrating, as such I remedy this by ensuring that learning is relevant and memorable, whilst keeping students motivated.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: I have a wealth of experience in education, as mentioned above I have worked as an MFL teacher in the UK system for 3 years (excluding my training year) but before I started and passed my PGDE I worked as a learning support assistant in a few local colleges part-time. I have also taught French and Spanish to adults at one of those colleges in the evenings. Moreover, since graduating from my BA in 2012 I worked in various Spanish schools, I worked in Málaga 1.5 years and Ibiza 8 months. Moreover, I also studied abroad as part of my BA: as part of my ERASMUS year I attended Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 for a semester and Universidad de Málaga for a semester.
