Hi! I’m Ben, a dedicated full-time maths tutor. I studied mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge University and graduated this year with a 2:1. Prior to that, I got a 1 in STEP 2 and a 1 in STEP 3, and 3A*’s at A level in Maths, Further Maths and Physics.

I discovered my passion for tutoring while I was doing my A levels. My school had me tutor some of the GCSE maths students at lunch times, and I developed a strong rapport with the students I worked with. It was amazing to see how much not only their understanding improvemed, but there enjoyment of the subject as well. The person I worked with most often started out with a 6 in his mock exams just 4 or 5 months before his GCSEs, but ended up with a 9 in the real exams. I was over the moon, and I`ve been happily recreating this experience ever since.

I believe maths is something you can only learn by actively engaged. Therefore, my lessons are highly interactive, and focus on asking the student questions that start simple but progress steadily until they gain a full grasp of the concept at hand, and are able to solve some very challenging problems on their own.

For a student to improve their understanding they need to feel safe to admit to their tutor that they don’t understand something. That is why I create a supportive learning environment in which students know that I will not judge the, no matter what their level of ability is, and no matter what mistakes they make.

I hope to have the opportunity to help you achieve your goals in mathematics, whether this is preparing for school exams like GCSEs and A levels, or getting into your dream university with preparation for Oxbridge interviews, STEP, MAT, or other entrance exams. Whatever you’re preparing for, I can give you the boost you need to succeed.
