Information about Hannah

I am a versatile and passionate young flautist with a wealth of teaching, orchestral, solo and chamber experience. I am an extremely encouraging and enthusiastic teacher who is dedicated to sharing music with students of all ages. I strongly believe that being a versatile teacher is the key to successful learning and always try to adapt lessons to individual students’ needs.

I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, London in 2014 with Distinction on the Master of Arts in Performance programme, the honorary DipRAM (for an outstanding Final Recital) and the Irene Burcher Award for the highest mark in a woodwind final recital. I now balance a successful teaching career alongside freelancing with many professional orchestras.

I have been privileged enough to perform with some of the UK’s leading orchestras including, the Philharmonia, English Symphony and Hallé Orchestras as well as the innovative and imaginative Shadwell Opera, The Little Orchestra and Wilderness Orchestra at Wilderness Festival.

Equally at home as a soloist, I have performed concertos (Bernstein’s Halil and Vivaldi’s Concerto in G Minor) and given solo and chamber recitals across the UK and Europe. Furthermore, I have worked on several CD recordings including ‘Mahler: Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen’ with the Royal Academy of Music Soloists Ensemble directed by Sir Trevor Pinnock CBE (Linn Records) and on a Film Score for ‘Museum’s of the New Age’ at the Science Museum, London.

I believe that my performing experience and training has given me a well-rounded and extensive understanding of the professional music world and I love being able to share this with my students.

Availability: Please contact me for availability. At the moment I have some availability on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Friday daytime.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have over 6 years experience teaching flute and recorder both privately and as a peripatetic teacher in both Primary and Secondary schools. I work with students of all ages and standards, ranging from age 4 to adults and I`m confident in finding the right path for each student.

I have a 100% success rate in preparing students for exams (ABRSM & Trinity) but also understand that they don`t suit everyone. I will happily work with students towards other goals that aren’t professionally examined and find alternate ways to motivate and inspire.

I am also very experienced in working with students with special needs (autism, ADHD, visual impairments, physical disabilities, dyslexia, Asperger`s etc).

I truly believe that learning an instrument should first and foremost be fun! I strive to make every bit of the learning process enjoyable whilst also working towards goals to provide a sense of achievement. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions and thank you for taking the time to read my page.
