Information about Lana
My name is Lana, and I am a Croatian teacher of English (ESOL) and Spanish. I was born in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, where I completed both primary and secondary grammar school before pursuing my studies to become a teacher. Teaching and travel have always been my passions, and over the years Ive had the privilege of living and working in England, New Zealand, and Croatia. In December 2019, I relocated to England, where I am currently working as a Spanish teacher at a secondary school in East London.
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: I have been teaching children, students, and adults ever since graduating in English and Spanish from the University of Humanities and Social Studies in Zagreb. Over the years, Ive had the chance to teach in many different contexts and countries from Croatian lessons for adults in Argentina, to working as a boarding and teaching assistant (ESOL and Spanish) at St Johns College in Portsmouth, to teaching Spanish at St Marks College in Wellington, and English and Spanish in both primary and secondary schools back home in Zagreb.
My teaching experience is wide-ranging: Ive taught General, Business, and Technical English, FCE/CAE exam preparation courses, Spanish for companies such as Ericsson in Zagreb, and plenty of one-to-one lessons tailored to individual learners.
Alongside my university degree, Ive completed a Mindfulness-Based Living course, and hold FCE, IELTS, and TEFL certificates. These have all supported my teaching practice and allowed me to bring fresh approaches into the classroom.
As a teacher, I hope to inspire students to discover their inner strengths, build confidence, and explore what truly motivates them. I strive to create a supportive and engaging environment where learners feel encouraged to share their ideas and grow at their own pace.
Through my varied work experiences, Ive developed strong organizational, communication, and research skills. Personally and professionally, I am conscientious, open-minded, and highly motivated. I love working with both children and adults, and I find great joy in helping learners reach their full potential while making the process enjoyable and meaningful.

Lana tutored my son for his GCSE Spanish and significantly raised his predicted grade, resulting in a really good GSCE grade for the final exams. More importantly, she helped him become more confident with his Spanish and even enjoy it! Lana was a very patient and supportive tutor, worked out how to bring out the best in my son and is a lovely person. I would thoroughly recommend Lana for Spanish tutoring.

Friendly and approachable, well prepared for the lesson. Focuses on weaknesses but not in a critical or judgemental manner. Knowledgeable and adaptable. A very good teacher

If you are serious about actually being able to speak Spanish this it the tutor for you. My kids were saying full sentences in Spanish from the very first lesson they had with Lana. She is kind, polite but to the point, she does not waste one minute of the lesson. Lana is always prepared, thorough in her approach to teaching. Lana has an amazing knowledge of methodology of teaching a language as well as the language itself. My children are always looking forward to their lessons.
