I enjoy sharing my love of language, grammar and mythology. I hope to find quirky ways to give insights into the ancient world and its impact.

Availability: I have availability on weekday mornings, afternoons and evenings. You can travel to me, or I can travel to you.

For online tutoring, which works surprisingly well, I can also accommodate weekend slots.

Experience: I have tutored Latin, Ancient Greek and classical studies from beginners to A-level and university level for twenty-three years. For twelve years, I’ve been teaching beginners up to Common Entrance at a prep school in Surrey.
I’ve prepared tutees for Oxford MA courses, SAT exams for US universities, and theology degrees. My students have gained scholarships to top schools and entry to Cambridge, Oxford, Bryn Mawr, and other top universities. I’m experienced in online tuition. You can find my tuition profile here:

I have taught English as a Foreign Language in Brazil, Italy and the UK, from beginners to proficiency level, so have a particular awareness of difficulties with second language learning.

I teach Creative Writing at University of Portsmouth, and I’ve given workshops in libraries, universities, schools, prisons and theatres. I have also translated ancient and mediaeval texts for academic, legal and medical purposes.
