Information about Adam
I am a fully qualified and experienced secondary science teacher and have taught in an independent boarding school for 7 years, as well as in several other schools. I have many years of private tutoring experience on top, including the teaching of writing skills. Prior to teaching, I had a career in research and business development for the pharmaceutical industry.
I am also a writer, a member of several professional associations and a Chartered Biologist.
Although I`m a biologist by specialism, I have taught chemistry, physics and maths as well as IT, psychology and PSHE in the classroom, and have tutored related science-based subjects, such as geography and physical education.

In addition, I have been involved in the teaching and pastoral care of pupils with a wide range of SENs including dyspraxia, dyslexia, ADHD and autistic spectrum disorders. My own experience leads me to believe that such pupils are more responsive and much better guided to learn in a tutorial situation where a good relationship can be established between tutor and student.
My tutoring follows tried and tested techniques to maximize learning and is geared fully to the needs and aptitudes of the individual student. I also place emphasis on examination technique, guiding pupils, using past papers, to avoid common errors.
As a tutor I have taught students from many of the country`s top independent schools including, Eton, Harrow, Marlborough College, Bradfield College, Oundle, Elstree, and Rugby. I have been fortunate enough to see my students go on to university to study medicine, veterinary science, biochemistry and other practical, scientific and technological fields.

Adam is a fantastic tutor. Really knows his stuff and conveys it well. My daughter always looked forward to her lessons. Adam helped my daughter get on top of her revision during the Easter holidays just before her exams. She went from being completely out of her depth not knowing where to start, to feeling in control. I wish we`d found Adam sooner. He has made a massive difference.

Adam has intensively worked with my son to prepare him for his Biology and PE GCSE equivalent exams over a 3 week period. Following the recent lockdown it became clear that my son had gaps in his knowledge and was in no way prepared. Adam worked with him through the Biology and PE curriculum and upcoming school exam content, addressing specific areas and doing exam question. At time of writing this review my son is still doing his exams but it is obvious that he feels far more confident in his knowledge and is so much better prepared.

Very pleased with Adam tutoring my son in GCSE, Adam has strong grasp on the subjects and help my son understand topics where he had difficulty earlier.

Adam responds quickly. Adam has been flexible in his approach and has enabled the learning to go at my daughters pace. He makes the parts that seem complicated understandable in a way that my daughter just gets. . There have been several "aha" moments. Really pleased.

Adam began tutoring my sister and I for A2 Biology this year. He has been incredibly helpful in helping us to understand sections we were unsure about, and his "Adam facts" really helped to enhance our essay writing. He helped me to achieve the A* I needed for medical school through his brilliant style of tutoring. Adam made sure we really understood every aspect of our course, which made writing exam answers much easier, and I cannot recommend him enough!

My son was tutored by Adam in Chemistry, Biology and Physics for the Edexcel Dual Science IGCSE Award. Adam was patient, and excellent at explaining areas of difficulty in bite size chunks. We were delighted that Max achieved A/A in his IGCSE Dual Science as the sciences were not his strongest subjects.

I would highly recommend Adam as a tutor. He is very warm, professional and knowledgeable. He is very good at finding out the right pace and the right areas, for my son to revise. He is amazing teacher. since the first lesson my 3 children told me he is great!!!. We are Spanish and with the language barrier my children have problems. only in one term with Adam my son in year 8 has outstanding in maths and science and good in the rest of the subjects. And my other two children are now at the top group of maths in primary. Adam is great teacher and also great person, very patient with the children and so kind with all the family. Always he arrives on time, and with smile for my children. Definitely I recommend him and I hope to continuos with him tutoring my kids for many years.

For the first lesson Mr Smith arrived 40minutes late which was extremely stressful as it meant my son was then late into his lesson for college. We mentioned again the importance for punctuality but Mr Smith did not turn up on time for his next lesson either being 30 minutes late. Once is forgiven twice in two lessons is poor.
Tutors Response :
Most people understand that unexpected road works, road closures, and consequent heavy traffic can be unavoidable obstacles when moving between appointments.
