Information about Sarah
I am a Chemistry graduate from Imperial College London with a 1st Class Honours. My degree course covers Chemistry, Maths and some Physics.
I familiarise myself with the student`s relevant exam board before planning material for the tutorials, including topic summaries and questions. I use different teaching methods to adapt to the student`s learning style and will regularly set tasks to make sure that the student understands the topics fully.
I tend to spend at least 1.5 hours to prepare prior to each tutorial to ensure that they are timed well and the material is taught efficiently.
Availability: I am able to tutor:
- GCSE Maths and Science
- A Level Chemistry
Please understand that transport costs and tutorial preparation times are included in the rate at which I charge for tuition.
In the 2017/18 academic year, I will be available mostly weekdays, some weekends, including those near summer exams in 2019.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: Previously tutored AS level Mathematics and Chemistry and the new A level Chemistry syllabus (2017). Before the first tutorial I would contact my tutee asking for the topics they wanted most help on in order to prepare some material prior to the tutorials.
To ensure the tutee understands the syllabus, I would find/produce some relevant questions to informally assess the tutee`s progress throughout the tutorial. At the beginning of the next tutorial I provide another set of questions to confirm that the tutee fully understood the topic.
At Imperial, I am a STEM mentor which gives younger students an insight of what studying science is like. As well as supervising them through laboratory practicals, we assist them with their studies and revision.
