Harry

Hi I`m Harry, I am a 3rd year medical student at Imperial College London. I enjoy maths and the sciences particularly and have completed multiple research projects one of which was presented in a national conference of neurology.

I`ve been tutoring since I was 16 and have taught from Key Stage 1 up to A level. Having travelled to different countries and worked with many students of varying levels of understanding i have learnt different individuals benefit from different methods of teaching. I have always really enjoyed teaching from a young age and developing good relationships with my students, I will endeavour to provide high quality lessons which are fun and interactive.

I can also offer UKCAT, BMAT, personal statement and interview advice.

I swim, run and do triathlons all of which i have been selected to compete nationally in. I also enjoy football and Ju Jitsu. I realise it is very important to have your social life and hobbies as a student with all the work. I have managed to develop techniques for efficient and effective working to allow me to do this. If any students would like any advice on this I`m happy to suggest some ideas.

Availability: 7 days a week

Experience: I like to tailor my lessons to each individual student to best suit their learning needs. I would usually follow a lesson plan as below roughly for most lessons.

At the start of each lesson I`d discuss the objectives and identify any particularly difficult or important topics.

Then I would answer any questions the student may have and explain any key areas.

I would then set questions to test the student on the objectives. This active learning part is key for a thorough understanding.

As we go through we could identify any weaker areas for the student to explain further or work on afterwards.

At the end of the session I would ask the student to summarise the key learning points for the session and I`d add to this and answer any questions.

I am happy to set targets or homework between sessions if the student wants.

I also find subjects more content based like biology may require more time explaining and understanding whereas application focused subjects such as maths tend to be learnt best by questions.

At the start of teaching my students i also like to get a shared understanding of what level or grades that they would like to achieve so I can help them progress towards this.
