I’m a current Senior Teacher and Head of English at a Manchester High School, with over 20 years experience in securing outstanding results at GCSE for students of all backgrounds and levels of ability.

Availability: I am available throughout the week, Monday to Friday after 5pm.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I have worked as Assistant Headteacher and lead English faculties across 4 secondary schools, over 20 years. I also have experience in leading literacy and working to improve reading ages of students who experience barriers to reading and understanding texts. I also work as a GCSE examiner for AQA and have always tutored in addition to regular teaching commitments.

Rob has been tutoring my son in English for the past 9 months. Due to the pandemic this has been a totally virtual experience which in my opinion hasn’t impacted on the quality of the sessions. Rob has been very engaging and built a good relationship with my son which has meant getting him to look forward to the session is much less of an issue. At the beginning the idea of extra sessions of English a subject he was not overly strong in after school was met with his disapproval but this soon went after his first session with Rob. He has followed the GCSE frame work and been able to add support to the lessons he had already had at school. I feel Rob has very much helped him develop and improve his understanding of the subject and I believe this was shown in his mock results which were better than expected. i would not hesitate in recommending Rob to anyone looking for extra support.

Robert has been teaching my daughter English GCSE for a few weeks now. The lessons are on-line and very exam orientated so really relevant and useful. He is calm, patient and encouraging, so instils confidence in her. I can thoroughly recommend him.
