Hi, I’m James.

I graduated from Cambridge and have tutored full-time at an educational consultancy. Scored all-A* grades at GCSE and A-Level while at Merchant Taylors` School, and passed the difficult STEP entrance exams for Cambridge through self-teaching.

My focus is on teaching students to think for themselves and to understand rather than simply memorise. This creates flexible and lasting ability, and of course better exam performance.

Specialise in getting students into Oxford and Cambridge by acing their A-Levels and university-specific entrance exams. Teach at all levels however, and believe that all students can become excellent.

My students have called me patient and encouraging.

Experience: Taught Oxbridge Maths applicants full-time for 3 months at a highly competitive Chinese educational consultancy in Shanghai which specialised in getting students into Oxford and Cambridge. Included interview prep, STEP & MAT prep, and A-Level syllabus learning. I have received letters of thanks from many of them who went on to study Maths and Physics at Oxbridge. Students were of all abilities. Have separately tutored Oxbridge applicants in the UK.
