Information about Alice
Hi, my name is Alice, and I`m a current PhD student (and teaching supervisor) in Geography at the University of Cambridge. I am a competent tutor in a broad range of subjects, from Geography and Social Anthropology up to degree level, English Literature up to A-Level, and several others at GCSE Level - including Biology, Religious Studies and English Language.
I have a strong track record of helping students achieve their best, based on six years of work as a private tutor, and one year of supervising undergraduates on the Cambridge BA Geography course. In my AS and A2 exams, (2014-2015) I consistently achieved 100% UMS, and have good knowledge of the A-Level examination structure and system as a whole. I also received first-class marks for all three years of my Cambridge degree (2015-2018), and came 2nd in my cohort of 102 students. As a tutor, I am friendly, patient and engaging. As several of my students have come to me with specific additional learning needs, I am experienced in helping students with ADHD and dyslexia.
My current PhD research in Geography and Social Anthropology is about climate change in the Himalayas, which has involved significant fieldwork and time spent living in remote South Asia. I am so passionate about helping students embrace everything that Geography has to offer, and this extends to other Humanities and Social Science topics. I`m also a published freelance journalist.
Having gained admission to the University of Cambridge from a state school, and remaining there to date, I also feel both confident and able to assist with the Oxbridge Admissions process for Humanities and Social Science subjects. This extends up to interview advice and practice, personal statement assistance, and guiding you through the application process. This ability has been strengthened by my regular work conducting Cambridge access tours for disadvantaged schools and sixth-form students. As such, I am confident that my admissions information, provided directly by my college, is up-to-date, comprehensive, and can be delivered accessibly to teenagers.
If you have any further questions, do feel free to message me. Thank you very much!

Experience: As a tutor, I am friendly, patient and engaging - I have successfully tutored students from 11-23 years old, including students with dyslexia and ADHD. In 2020, I supervised (small-group teaching) two modules on the BA Geography course at Cambridge, and have delivered a full-day tuition course in-person at a sixth form on Oxbridge Applications with the company UniAdmissions.

I`ve only had Alice for a few lessons and she`s been great. Her English tuition is excellent, she explains concepts very clearly and introduces new and helpful concepts that I have never been taught in school!
