Information about Mike
I am an experienced, friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic teacher of 13yrs. I believe in fun and engaging activities to promote differenitiated learning across the curriculum.
I would be happy to offer support in any area that you may require support either in exam preparation, study techniques or overall raising of attainment.
I have a family with 2 young children whom I also tutor:) which has developed my affinity to work with younger pupils as I take my son through basic numeracy and literacy skills.
I currently work at Amery Hill school in the science department, with whom I have achieved a 90% pass rate (A - C) in this summer`s GCSE examinations something we hope to exceed this year:)
Availability: I am available 7 days a week between the hours of 17:00 - 20:00 Mon - Fri and 09:00 - 17:00 at weekends
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: In the 13yrs of my career I have worked primarily in the secondary sector with specialisms in Science, Physical Education and IT. However my career has given me a vast and diverse experience including teaching at primary school as well as at college, where I lectured both BTEC and A2 courses.

My year 10 son really enjoys his lessons with Mike which speaks volumes about Mike`s engaging manner. He has many different strategies to help students and it seems to be helping my son`s confidence as well as knowledge.

Mike tutored my daughter in all science subjects for some last minute cramming before her GCSE`s. It really gave her confidence a much needed boost and made her focus on exam technique. She was very happy with the grades she achieved and is now studying chemistry and biology at A level.

Even though my son has only had a handful of sessions with Mike, I can honestly say we cannot praise him enough! a 16 year old boy is not the easiest to motivate, but Mike certainly makes him work! my son even asks when is his next session!

Mike is a very experienced and knowledgeable tutor. My sons grades have gone up steadily and he`s making improvements as a result of Mike,s tutoring. He is always on time and well organised.

Mike immediately engaged with our daughter and is making maths lessons fun. Normally she struggles to focus, but sits for a whole hour ....which to her seems to whizz by. Thank you Mike

Mike worked with my son on A level PE. Although we only found Mike a little late in the day, Mike enabled my son to get a B in his written PE exam, which was a huge turn around from his mocks. Thanks to Mike`s work with my son, he got overall C and his place in first choice university.

My daughter needed assistance with several topics in A Level Biology. I would highly recommend Mike as a tutor. He is an extremely nice person and punctual for each appointment. He is obviously an experienced teacher in the way he tutors and gets the point across - you really do get what you pay for! He is helping my daughter enormously and has given her the confidence to face her upcoming exam.

I can`t recommend Mike highly enough he has been absolutely brilliant preparing my daughter for her exams in Science. He has been outstanding and provided Effie with support and motivated her to become interested in science. Mike uses excellent strategies and techniques to encourage Effie`s learning in a way that has really suited her. Thanks Mike!
