Information about Elena

Hola!

My name is Elena and I am an ambitious undergraduate of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies at Birkbeck College. I teach both Spanish and English to all levels and english with experience teaching Edexcel and AQA exam boards.

I started learning Spanish way back in year 5 at just 9/10 years old. It became a constant in my life; always there. Skip to the present day and I have proudly worked through my Spanish gcse, alevel and university degree.

This year, following my completion of university, I also bought into a franchise focused around teaching children Spanish which is very exciting.

My current pricing:
online £25 p/h
face to face £30 p/h

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I now have 6 years’ worth of experience teaching English, Spanish and coding to children (with mamacodes). I started my teaching journey during on a 6-month trip to South America where I taught in Honduras, Ecuador and Peru to children and adults alike.

Upon arriving back in the UK, I decided I wanted to explore teaching more as a career, so I volunteered with the charity Talking Together that provides free and informal English lessons to women migrants from war torn countries. This was a simple 12-week programme where I taught practical English, however the improvement in my students in this short amount of time led me to realise that teaching is such a satisfying career and something that I had to pursue.

After completing my travels and doing a NVQ to become a teacher assistant, I began offering 1:1 English and Maths tuition for primary school children. It wasn`t until a few months later that I focused on teaching Spanish and got my first Spanish GCSE student. My private tutoring business took off and I was teaching multiple classes a day (1:1 and groups to children and adults, beginners to advanced) and absolutely loving it!

Private tutoring can be exhausting work sometimes, but seeing my students move 3/4 grades in less than a year and smashing their predicted grades is the most incredible feeling! So please don`t hesitate to get in touch and ask questions about my experience, teaching methods etc! I look forward to hearing from you...
