Information about John
I specialise in Online Tutoring It allows me to share my screen which I can write on and for the student to share their screen if they use a surface or Ipad pro-type device. You can also use a mobile phone or webcam. I have been teaching at one of the Uk`s top private schools for the last 20 Years. I have equally good success in helping gifted students going to study Maths at top universities and students that find Maths hard and looking to gain the minimum standard.
I have tutored all ages from primary up to university entrance.
On a non-maths point of view, my main skill has been advising students on how to prepare for all their exams and guiding them to the university places that they want. In my last year in this role, 100% of my tutees acquired places at their first-choice university.
I find that 30 min Lessons work best for primary-aged children and can offer this service.
I can say that the Tutor Hunt interface is very impressive. I have used both Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and it is better and easier than both.
Availability: I currently have one place free. I limit the numbers I teach in term time as I teach a full load of GCSE, A level and A level Further Maths and IB SL /HL Maths at a top school. In my first year on tutor Hunt, I taught only two students full-time outside of school. One from the site and one by personal recommendation. They both attained A grades. One went from an E to an A in the space of a year, the other from a D to an A in three months. Of course, they may have benefitted from their generous teachers, but this is only likely to have helped by a grade at most. Last year I helped three students by personal recommendation, none through Tutor Hunt.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have taught Maths for 30 years been a Head of Department and teach the following syllabuses in one of the UK`s top schools. GCSE, IGCSE, International baccalaureate both HL and SL. A level Mathematics and A level Further Mathematics. I have taught the Edexcel and OCR boards. Currently, I am teaching at Wellington College.
I have been making videos for Youtube for over 12 years and do these for my own students. All lessons are recorded and students can access them afterwards to go over them if they forget what has been taught.

My son Matthew has been having lessons over the summer with John. Matthew has found John to be very helpful, he has explained things in a way that has been really beneficial to Matthew and we will now continue with John until Matthews A levels are completed. Thank you John

John has been helping my 7 year old daughter with catching up on Primary maths for around a month and already we have seen good progress. It has been good to find a tutor who expects more from our daughter and seems driven to make progress. John has been exceptionally patient and quickly worked out which areas she was struggling with and what to prioritise. He makes good use of the time in the sessions and will go back to topics to reinforce them if he feels its needed. In just a few weeks our daughter has gone from knowing almost no times tables at all to being able to recall 2/3rds of them, which is boosted her confidence hugely. Our daughter seems more open minded to learning maths and proud of what shes learnt. Id happily recommend John to friends and family.
