I am a linguistics professional with over fifteen years’ experience in the educational, legal, health, research & development, academic and business sectors. I have been providing tuition in English as a second language to students and business professionals, as well as interpreting and translation services to institutions throughout the UK full time since 2013. I`m highly qualified with a background in international business, interpreting and translation within academic institutions overseas and the British courts and legal system. I believe that the fastest and most successful way to learn a language is through tailored, goal oriented and applied tuition focused on the students` needs. I adopt an approach to language training which promotes proactive participation by the students, placing emphasis on the ability to communicate. I believe that tuition should encourage natural and confident verbal interaction between the student and the teacher, in bespoke real-life situations.

Experience: I am a professional with over fifteen years’ experience in the educational, health, research & development, management and linguistic sectors. For the past five years, I have been self-employed, providing high level private English language tuition as well as interpreting and translation services to reputed institutions throughout the UK. The experience as a legal interpreter has contributed enormously to my knowledge of legal terminology and the British legal system.

Prior to becoming an interpreter, I spent ten years in Public Service, working as a Project Manager at the International Affairs and Innovation Technology Department at Fundacao Oswaldo Cruz-Bahia (FIOCRUZ) in Brazil. FIOCRUZ is an important Research & Development and Higher Education federal institution, part of the Ministry of Health and the main provider of services for Brazil’s National Health Service (SUS). During that period, I had the opportunity to enhance my analytical and strategic skills, performing different roles and being involved in various important projects across the institute. This has given me a great deal of insight into Business and Management, as well as planning and implementing projetcs.

Having been educated and professionally involved in academic environments in different countries has given me a high level of cultural awareness, which is a fantastic bonus in performing my role as an educator. I can offer not just a wide spread knowledge of the language, but also unique insights into the various layers of academic and professional life, which greatly enhances the student’s experience of learning a new language and its practical use.
