Lizzie

Hi! I’m Lizzie, a tutor in French, Spanish and English. My friends and family describe me as enthusiastic, positive and grounded. I aim to bring these qualities to everything I do. I feel very fortunate to pursue my several passions every day. A deep love for language and communication has led me into the world of tuition, where I’ve relished working with many, inspiring individuals. When I’m not tutoring, I work in my own small health business. I also have lots of hobbies, my favourites being ballet, singing and yoga.

There are many fantastic tutors out there and it can be difficult to know who will be the best fit. I like to see myself as a tutor with a mixture of many ideal qualities: experienced, compassionate, fun, someone students can both relate with and learn from. Tuition is my full-time position and priority so I never cut corners. Likewise, I teach fewer subjects and clients than many tutors because I’m more interested in providing quality over quantity and in areas I’m truly passionate.

Experience: I first began tutoring whilst on my year abroad in Spain. I was keen to immerse myself as much as possible in the language
and culture. First a hobby and pocket-money earner, tuition has now become my full- time job and one of my passions. My favourite subject at school was English Literature and I found my musical ear gave me a gift for languages. So, I went on to study French and Spanish Language & Literature at Oxford University. Tutoring allows me to combine all three of these wonderful subjects together and share what I have learnt with a new generation of curious minds. I feel very invested in each of my student’s journeys and grateful to share in their successes.

MY TEACHING METHODOLOGY

It was my own experience at school that drove me to become a tutor. I was quite shy and reluctant to ask questions, intimidated by classmates and fearful of getting things wrong. I found it much easier to struggle in silence. But, thanks to a few wonderful teachers and eventually a very nurturing school environment, I began to step out of my comfort zone and find my voice. Now, whenever I meet a new student, this becomes my priority. One-to-one tuition facilitates the close interaction and sense of self-pacing that cannot be offered in a classroom environment. Whether a student needs a confidence boost or a little push to reach the next level, I’ll always be here to help.

Though I have never needed to use either, I am fully insured and have passed an enhanced DBS check.
