Information about Amy
I believe students should be taught science in a way that makes sense to them. Each student is at a different stage in their learning, and so require a different approach in teaching them science.
My approach is to help the student feel calm, confident and teach at a pace they understand. I recap knowledge, use questioning to check understanding, along with past exam questions - breaking them down so the student understands what is being asked, along with the meaning of the command words. I also help prepare for mock exams, up and coming assessments, and reteach previous content.
Having taught in 6 secondary schools for 16 years now, I have experience of teaching students with all different skills and abilities. I have a particular strength in teaching students who struggle with science, and build their confidence, as well as stretching and challenging the higher end to improve their grades.
I am well experienced and qualified to teach GCSE Biology and Chemistry GCSE, and Combined Science, both higher and foundation.
I have taught and tutored AS level OCR and AQA biology, and have some experience with A2.
I coach and train teachers new to the profession, as well as those early on their careers.

Amy is a fantastic tutor. My daughter needed some help to fill in gaps in her knowledge and to regain confidence in the subject. I saw a real difference after just one session. Now with regular sessions, my daughter’s subject knowledge has improved measurably and she is a lot more confident about her assessments. Nothing is too much trouble for Amy. She sends work and questions in between sessions and is completely flexible with what my daughter wants to work on each session. She is patient, positive and explains everything really clearly and seeks feedback to ensure my daughter is progressing. I am so glad we found Amy.

My daughter is in year 11 now and has had science absolutely turned around by Amy. She lost all her confidence at the beginning of year 10 and developed a real dislike for the subject.....but then Amy came along. She makes the lessons fun and interesting. My daughter has learnt a huge amount and, although there is still a long way to go, no longer feels daunted by the exams that lie ahead. I would absolutely recommend Amy to take on the challenge that any child may bring and, for us - with Amy`s help - I am confident that my daughter will walk away from her GCSEs with the grades that she deserves.
