Michaela

I am a local primary school teacher with over 12 years experience in Key Stage 1 and Key stage 2. My approach to teaching is based on building strong relationships with the pupil so that they feel comfortable to try new challenges. I enjoy using a range of practical teaching strategies in order to break down complex concepts, support learning and encourage the child to have fun while building their understanding and confidence. I work closely with the child and their parents to understand their individual needs and use this to deliver a personalised programme of support.

I have a particular interest in Maths and am able to use a variety of approaches to build understanding, challenge common errors and develop confidence. I am also trained as a specialist teacher in Dyslexia and have developed short programmes of 1:1 support in order to overcome specific barriers to learning this can present. Other relevant qualifications include Understanding Autism, Phonics, Children`s Mental Health and Safeguarding.

Having studied Primary Teacher Training with Music at York St John University, I am also able to offer music tuition to individuals.

I am DBS checked and fully insured.
