Hi there! My name is Katherine and I am a classically trained soprano, and I teach singing and guitar from my home studio in Stirchey. My students range in age from 6 to 72, so all are welcome!

I have 5 years` experience of teaching privately. My background is in classical music, but I teach in a variety of different styles including pop, rock, and folk.

I teach singing from beginners to Grade 6, and I teach guitar from beginner up to Grade 5. I also teach music theory up to Grade 5, and can help with songwriting.

Every voice is unique, and I enjoy working with students and tailoring lessons for each person. Depending on what you personally want to achieve, I can support and motivate you in developing as a musician.

My current students have gone on to pass exams, join choirs, and participate in performances.

Experience: I come from a family of classical singers, pianists, and conductors, and have been immersed in music from an early age.

I studied composition, singing and music theory with my parents (Ivor FLCM, LLCM(TD), ALCM, Cert Ed; and Linda BSC Hons, PGCE, LLCM). I am currently training for my DipABRSM with Kevin West.

I perform regularly as a soprano in the UK and Europe, and have performed in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the Southbank Centre, St John Smith’s Square, and Glastonbury. I sing in a number of ensembles including Woodwose Early Music group.

As regards pop music, I taught myself to play guitar and have been writing songs since I can remember. As a songwriter I have received radioplay including BBC6 Music, and as a session guitarist I have played on studio recordings. I have previously been the singer and bassist in a successful punk band touring Europe.

I am currently the lead singer and guitarist in a professional function band.
