Information about Leah

Hello, my name is Leah and my passion in life is helping people. I am an extremely patient, professional, skilled teacher who is extremely popular with students and families because I am friendly and fun. I love learning myself and enjoy passing that passion on to students

I have been teaching for 15 years (5 years English for adults and 10 years in UK primary schools). I work part time in an Outstanding school and have been part of a team achieving excellent SATS results for the last 5 years. I am very good at analysing students` weaknesses and knowing how to move them forward.

I am a trained examiner for an adult English language skills examination board, and I also have experience working with refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable adults and children. I lived in Portugal for 4 years and I am very proficient in Portuguese, studying at the ISCTE in Lisbon. I am also a trained Spanish teacher for primary and have lived and worked In Barcelona. I completed part of my teacher training in Gran Canaria. I also studied Arabic for 2 years and reached A-Level French, so as you can see I love learning languages!

I have also been writing scri pts for radio, TV and film for the last 5 years. I love films, books, creative writing, theatre, cycling, swimming, travel and languages.

Leah has been tutoring my primary aged kids for several years and we wouldn`t be without her - she is brilliant! Warm, engaging, and really enthusiastic about maths and literacy. She has made all the difference to their learning and taken away all their anxiety especially around maths. She is patient, knowledgeable, experienced and teaches in a style that is tailored to each child. Her own passion for the subjects shines through. I cannot recomend Leah highly enough as a tutor for your child!

Leah is amazing! My little girl thinks she is fantastic as do I! My daughter has always found maths incredibly hard and has never enjoyed it and as result has fallen behind. We have only been with Leah now for about a month but already my daughter is becoming incredibly more confident and willing to learn. Leah uses a variety of games, clips and other strategies to engage Isla and to make it more fun. She is quirky, fun and encouraging in her approach and teaching style and is full of praise and positivity. Leah rocks and is stuck with us for the long haul!!!!!!!!!!
