Hi! I`m a 33-year old English teacher, in both Literature and Language. I`ve got a 2:1 in English from Bristol University, and since leaving there, have worked in a variety of language-based jobs, from journalism to proofreading and of course, tutoring. I`ve worked in a wide range of students, including English, Politics and Political Theory, and History, from school-level KS3 non-native speakers to university undergrads at institutions like SOAS, King`s, Imperial and others. The aim, for me, is always to find what you`re good at, and use that positive mental awareness to grow what else you can be good at, develop your skills that way. I`ve got plenty to offer you in support, both with the nuts-and-bolts techniques of learning the English language, and more complex specifics to help you understand English literature, whether that`s Shakespeare, poetry from WW1, Victorian gothic, or contemporary fiction. We will make you better at speaking, understanding, and writing English. I have high standards, but I`m easy to get along with, because like I said, positive mental awareness is what counts. Need to open up those mental channels, and one can only do that if one feels good about doing it. Many of my students in the past had Arabic as their first language, but I`ve also worked with Chinese, African and Russian students, so I have a good understanding of how to construct the building-blocks to take you forward, if English isn`t your first language. Since relocating to Oxford, where I currently reside, I`ve done a fair amount of work with adult learners looking to develop their grasp of spoken and written English in various fields - conversational, professional, as well as more tailored tasks as appropriate to their employment. I enjoy this a lot, and look forward to any opportunity to develop my techniques further. Basically, if you`ve got an English situation, I can handle it. Availability: Generally 5-6 days per week, after 2pm, I`m available.
