My approach to tutoring is demanding but fun, and I encourage independent work and the building of critical thinking skills.
I specialise in building better writing skills from the ground up and encouraging understanding of historical and cultural context around texts, a key skill for many exam boards. It is impossible to reach the highest grade boundaries without a detailed and nuanced understanding of the history and culture surrounding a text, and I work heavily on building understanding of this from the first session.
It`s important for me that students enjoy sessions too and come away with, if not a desire to carry on English to a higher level, at least a love of and appreciation of literature.

Availability: Available evenings and weekends.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I hold a bachelor`s degree in English Literature and am currently completing my master`s dissertation, focusing on Gothic literature of the eighteenth century.
I have experience of tutoring at GCSE and A-level and would also be available to teach undergraduate.
