Information about Tom
I am 25 years old and currently living in the fantastic city of Newcastle. At school, I always thought that maths wasn`t for me. In fact, I even took on a tutor myself! That all changed during the course of my degree: I realised that maths isn`t just a useful tool, but a way of thinking clearly about the world that uses the instincts and abilities that each of us are born with. I believe that patience and above all confidence are the keys to learning maths and I look forward to sharing my passion for the subject.
Availability: 09:00 - 21:00 All week.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: My most recent role has been for the cycling charity Sustrans. The role involved looking at how cycling usage is changing in different areas, measuring the benefits of cycling infrastructure and intervention projects and looking at the role and value of cycling in our society.
During my degree in Economics & Philosophy at the University of Leeds, I worked as a volunteer assistant for Student Action for Refugees, which taught English as a foreign language to refugees and asylum seekers. I also gained a 120-hour i-to-i TEFL qualification.
