Information about Laura
I am an experienced Religious Studies teacher with over 15 years of classroom experience across Key Stages 3–5. I specialise in both GCSE (AQA) and A-Level (OCR) Religious Studies, covering Philosophy, Ethics, and Developments in Christian Thought. I have previously led a department, giving me a strong understanding of how to support students at every stage of their learning.
I offer clear explanations, structured revision strategies, and engaging resources tailored to each student’s needs. I also host the Faith and Focus Podcast, where I break down key exam topics into accessible, easy-to-understand episodes—perfect for revision support.
My approach is student-centred: I focus on building confidence, improving exam technique, and helping learners not only understand the content but also enjoy the subject. Whether you’re aiming for top grades, need support with essay structure, or want to strengthen your understanding of key concepts, I can help you achieve your goals.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: Religious Studies
I have over 15 years of experience teaching Religious Studies across Key Stages 35 in schools throughout Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. I have taught the AQA GCSE Religious Studies course and the OCR A-Level specification, covering Philosophy, Ethics, and Developments in Christian Thought. As a former Head of Department, I have developed a strong understanding of how to raise achievement, improve exam technique, and make complex theological and philosophical ideas accessible to all students. Alongside teaching, I run the Faith and Focus Podcast, which provides structured and engaging revision content to support learners in preparing for exams.
Sociology
I have also taught both GCSE and A-Level Sociology, helping students to engage with key sociological theories, methods, and contemporary issues. My teaching has included supporting students in developing essay-writing skills, applying sociological perspectives to real-world examples, and building the critical thinking needed for higher-level study. I aim to make Sociology relatable and relevant, so that students not only succeed in exams but also gain a deeper understanding of the society they live in.
