I aim to improve understanding and enjoyment in mathematics through listening and responding to student needs. I believe that everyone can be successful in mathematics given the opportunity to understand the subject, and interact with it in a way that makes sense to them.
I have experience working in a school setting and tutoring on a one-one basis. The students I have worked with appreciate my calm manner, and enthusiasm for the subject.
I hold a first-class honours degree in mathematics through the Open University; I studied for my degree alongside working full time.
I am currently completing a PGCE with the University of Exeter, so I am up to date with the latest teaching methods to enhance learning, and improve ability in reasoning and problem solving questions which are now more of a focus at both GCSE and A-Level.
A key part of the learning process is through discussion, so that concepts can be understood deeply, and connections across the subject can be made. Through developing a connected understanding students can be more successful in their academic studies and enjoy the subject more.
I am available for online tuition and have flexible availability.
I love all things to do with mathematics, particularly the historical origins, mathematics in nature and mathematics in the visual arts. My other passions include being in the outdoors, whether it be hiking, running or swimming; and playing my classical guitar.
