I taught English/English Literature at GCSE and A Level for over twenty five years in a grammar school environment, but now work as a private tutor and education consultant. I have worked extensively as an examiner for several of the key exam boards. I also regularly mark mock exams for schools to give them extra insight into their students. Ofsted inspectors and internal school observers consistently judged my teaching to be `outstanding.`
I have a positive and friendly demeanour that allows me to connect well with young people of all key stages helped by the fact that I love my job!
Availability: Mon - Fri 3 til 8pm together with day time availability for home educated students or those who start or finish school early some days.
I offer all my tutoring online and thus there are no geographical restrictions on whom I can tutor.

I cannot recommend this English teacher highly enough. She has been absolutely fantastic in supporting my daughter through her GCSE preparation. Not only has she significantly improved her English skills, but she has also helped build her confidence, which has made a real difference in her overall approach to learning. Her teaching style is engaging, patient, and encouraging, and she clearly cares about her students’ progress. Thanks to her support, my daughter feels much more prepared and positive about her exams. We are incredibly grateful for the impact she has had.

Susan has tutored my daughter for A level English literature over a several months. She has been a brilliant tutor, taking the time to understand where my daughter needed help and providing lessons tailored to her needs. Sue is an amazing tutor. She has been tutoring my son who will be sitting his a-levels this year. She is very friendly and very easy to approach for any questions or queries.She is really good at focussing on what the student is lacking and helps them improve it. My son is overall a good student but he was struggling with topic tests and mock exams and his grades went really low. Sue reviewed his test/exam papers and adviced him on key points on how to imrove his writting and lo and behold he went 3 grades up in the next test. He has been consistently doing well since then. I am really impressed by his imrovement in such a short time, all thanks to Sue for her extinsive support and guidance.
