I taught English/English Literature at GCSE and A Level for over twenty five years in a grammar school environment, but now work as a private tutor and education consultant. I have worked extensively as an examiner for several of the key exam boards. I also regularly mark mock exams for schools to give them extra insight into their students. Ofsted inspectors and internal school observers consistently judged my teaching to be `outstanding.`
I have a positive and friendly demeanour that allows me to connect well with young people of all key stages helped by the fact that I love my job!
Availability: Mon - Fri 3 til 8pm together with day time availability for home educated students or those who start or finish school early some days.
I offer all my tutoring online and thus there are no geographical restrictions on whom I can tutor.

Excellent tutor. The focused attention Susan gives has really helped to develop the specific writing skills needed at A level that my daughter was struggling with. More importantly my daughter really gelled with Susan, enjoying her teaching style and looked forward to each of her sessions.

My daughter worked with Susan for A-level. She find Susan’s lessons well prepared. Especially Susan’s exam techniques helped her achieve top grades in English Literature. As a parent Susan came like godsend to us. It’s not easy to get help for ALevel course. Texts are so varied not all tutors can accommodate requests. Susan helped my daughter on varied texts and I never had to look any further. I will highly recommend Susan for A level.
