Information about Sylvia
I am a native Chinese Mandarin speaker, having previously lived in Singapore.
My strong foundation in the Chinese language comes from my family and 12 years of education in Chinese schools, as well as my previous career in the hospitality industry, which gave me the opportunity to consolidate my knowledge by meeting different Chinese speakers around the world.
I use a range of teaching & learning approaches to suit individual learner needs. Group lessons are available - please contact me to discuss further.
I obtained the qualification of Level 3 Award in Education and Training in 2020 and L2 Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties in 2023.
Availability: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Experience: I am doing translation (to Mandarin) for the Food & Beverage industry on a freelance basis.
Previously, I teached in South East Essex Chinese School.
I had a year of teaching experience in primary school, Malaysia.

Sylvia has helped me quite urgently before my HSK 3 exam coming up, very quickly arranged for a lesson to go through a topic I was stuck on. Very diligent, really like her approach and how she explained my sticking points. I got more understanding in one hour than I got from about 10 attempts to go through it myself. Thank you!

Sylvia has been brilliant at teaching my two boys. I have been really impressed with the vocabulary they have learnt in just a few lessons, and they have even started writing a few characters. She is very good at keeping them focused when the 5 year old tries to go off-topic! Thank you
