I have been a science teacher for 25 years in the South East Essex area. I live in Burnham-on-Crouch with my wife and our 3 sons aged 20, 17 & 15. I understand the challenges faced by pupils with the current science syllabus and my aim is to break down difficult topics into manageable and understandable components. I am passionate about science as a subject and I aim to be engaging in my style of teaching. Throughout my career my lessons have been graded as `very good` by inspectors and professional colleagues. As a teacher my priority is always to help students achieve their goals, if this means I need to mix up my teaching styles and tackle topics from a different angle I will do so.
Availability: Depending on location I am available on most week evenings except Tuesday`s due to sport commitments.
At weekends available Sunday and Saturday mornings

Experience: Taught at Deanes School(Science Teacher) from 1996-2000.
Moved to Westcliff High School for Girls as KS3 Coordinator and teacher of A Level Chemistry. 2000-2002
Moved back to Deanes School as Second in Science and became Head of Science for 5 years.
Finally moved to William De Ferrers School in 2011 as Head of Science.
I have taught Biology Chemistry and Physics up to KS4 GCSE including Triple Science.
Also taught AS-level Chemistry.

David has really helped my daughter to understand GCSE chemistry and to embed the concepts. He started with the basics, gradually building up and re-enforcing the concepts so that she properly understands them and can remember them. This was really helpful as my daughter had very little confidence in the topics. He has also been very good at looking at how to answer exam questions.

Dave is an excellent Science tutor and we were very pleased having him helping our daughter to prepare and revise for the GCSE triple science exams higher paper. Being able to have online sessions enabled having a robust schedule but also allowed for flexibility in organising the time when needed. Dave continuously assessed the level of understanding of the subjects, followed the GCSE curricula and adjusted by including additional explanations and exercises in her sessions, per needed. My daughter highly enjoyed the sessions with Dave, who also helped her build confidence in her own abilities. As a result, she achieved grade 9 in each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Thank you Dave for everything, she could have not done it without your support!
