Information about Alec
I am a fifth-year PhD student in Philosophy, at University College London. I also have a Master`s in Philosophy from the University of Oxford.
I can provide support for all areas of Philosophy, as well as connected areas of Religious Studies and Politics.
As well as helping with understanding, I can help students with essay-writing and research skills.
I am happy to tutor A-level and IB students, as well as undergraduates and independent researchers.
Availability: I can be flexible. Currently I am unable to teach in the daytime on Monday or Friday, or on Tuesday evenings. All other times are fine.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates in Philosophy, across a number of different class sizes and formats.
The courses I have been the teaching assistant for are as follows:
- Applied Moral and Political Philosophy, 3rd Year Group Exercise (students in groups produce a philosophically-informed public policy proposal)

I also led the teaching for:
- Texts and Debate, 1st Year Tutorial Course (groups of 1-3 students, writing weekly essays on select questions)
I also have a CELTA (University of Cambridge accredited) qualification to teach English as a foreign language. I have taught students aged between 16-50 years old, in class sizes of between 5-15 students.
