Economics

As a professional Economist I have plenty of real life examples and experience to share with my economics students. I might be biased but economics is definitely one of the most interesting subject you can study as it impacts every aspect of our lives.

When teaching I like to break the economic concepts down into small chunks and discuss them with real life examples. With everything going on in the world right now think of all the interesting discussions we can have! (And the colour they’ll bring to your essays and long answer questions). Once we’ve nailed the concepts we can practice, practice and practice some more with exam questions for A* answers.

Maths

The last couple of years have been really tough on young students trying to learn maths at home and with patchy virtual lessons. With my students I like to make sure they have solid foundations to their mathematical skills and then build on those. The key to top marks in maths is a lot of practice so we’ll do lots of questions together and make sure that you really understand the methods.

The second thing that I’ve found that helps my students get top marks is to make sure that once we’ve learnt one topic that we continually come back to it through the year so that those techniques stay fresh in our minds.

I also have an open inbox policy so that during the time between our sessions I’ll happily mark and give feedback on any Econ or maths work that my students would like to show me.

I’ve been tutoring for the last 5 years and in that time have taught Economics at degree level, A level and at GCSE level. As well as Maths and English I’m comfortable with all exam boards and learning styles.

I only take on one or two students a year so that I can give them my full attention and can teach online or locally in SW London.

Experience: I’m in my 3rd year on the Civil service Fast Stream as an Economist so I have lots of great real life examples of economics in action to share with my students.

Before that I worked as a Centre Director of a language school where I managed the learning experience of up to 600 students at a time.

I have 5 years of experience tutoring maths and economics.

Plenty of other experience working in language schools, tutoring 11+, working in summer schools ect.
