I am a graduate in July 2021 from the University of Leeds in BA Sociology (INTERNATIONAL). In university I had an opportunity to study abroad as part of my degree and this experience meant I developed a global outlook on life which allows me to see things from different perspectives.
Furthermore, I have had previous teaching experience in two different job roles which involved being an English teacher and also a debate mentor. Both these roles took place online which has allowed me to experience teaching through different online systems.

Experience: Mentor at Debate Mate
This role consisted of teaching students aged six to seven the debating curriculum online.
• Time management was essential in this role as I needed to look through the curriculum and then plan
a lesson based on this before the lesson.
• Developed my teaching skills by thinking of creative new techniques that would engage the children
in their learning of debating.
• Confidence in teaching and being able to deliver a class due to more practice of lessons in front of a
group of children instead of just one individual like previous experience.
• Leadership skills in taking on the role of the teacher and overseeing the teaching experience.

Teacher at The Overseas Teacher
This role consisted of teaching students aged three to twelve an English lesson online.
• Communication skills with younger children especially since they are learning English as a second
language and being able to properly adjust the language you use when you talk so that they
understand.
• Organisation was key to this role as I had to lesson plan completely from scratch and create a half an
hour lesson in relation to a particular subject which was chosen by the parent in time for the lesson.
• Motivation to deliver a high standard of lessons to the children so that they can pass their English
exams.
