Laura

I am a qualified English teacher with extensive experience teaching in secondary schools and an impressive track record for progression and success from ages 8 - 18. I have a particular passion for Literacy Education. With regards to qualifications, I have taught English Language & English Literature at GCSE and at A level both as a tutor and as a classroom teacher.

As an expert in Literacy, I have received additional training in phonics & precision teach methods to support students with particular education needs. Employing these strategies has resulted in a significant development of students` literacy skills. This progression is also reflected in my teaching of gifted students throughout the Key Stages. Recently, I have had the opportunity to employ my literacy expertise working in Ghana with Warwick University for their African education project as a Literacy consultant.

I like to practise the skills I teach and I work as a freelance journalist. Like most English teachers, I have a passion for reading and love to inspire my students to discover their own passion for Literature.
My experience in life is diverse, from being an examiner for all the major exam boards, to travelling the world from the Arctic to a boat trip down the Amazon.
