I`m Tom and currently work as an economist. I have a 2:1 BSc in Economics and Economic History from LSE, and A-levels in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and History.

My approach to tutoring is simple: personal, friendly and focused on understanding. Rather than rote-learning facts, I aim to build a deeper understanding of the subject, which can then be applied much more widely and flexibly going forward, be it into university or the workplace. I encourage and support, but also test and challenge: by pushing my tutees to really grasp and engage with the material, they not only get better results but also develop a more rounded appreciation for the subject and its application to their future. I find it immensely rewarding to see my tutees grow in confidence, both personally and intellectually, as they become fluent in the subject and go on to achieve their well-earned potential.

Availability: Weekday evenings; any time on weekends.

Experience: Before I started full-time work, I tutored several A-level students in Maths and Economics. All my tutees went up by at least two grades; in one case I am especially proud of, from a D to a well-deserved A. All my tutees secured their first choice of University, including two to Oxbridge, who I also supported through the HAT and admissions process. I have stayed in contact with many of my tutees since they finished school, providing University tuition and careers advice.

All my tutees have highlighted my personal style, tailored to their needs, and my work to build within them a confidence in working with the subject that they could apply to their futures.
