Hello!

I`m Adam and I’m a currently practising Head of English at a large local secondary. I am really passionate about my subject and having achieved 1st Class Honours in my degree and being a published researcher (MPhil), I have a level of subject knowledge that few tutors can offer.

As a relatively young and enthusiastic practitioner, I pride myself on being able to inspire and motivate tutees by promoting and nurturing a love of English, demonstrating how engaging, enjoyable and relevant the subject can be. I have five years tutoring experience and have a proven track record of outstanding results.

Sessions are tailored to suit the needs of the tutee in order to enable them to reach their goals. A solid grounding in the subject, combined with an innovative, creative and engaging tutoring style enable me to not only unlock the potential of students, but to really enthuse and engage them in their studies.

I am able to forge positive relationships with tutees and parents in order to foster a nurturing ethos alongside academic rigour. As a result, tutees will not only make outstanding progress, but will develop confidence and lifelong skills that will serve them far beyond the qualification for which they are studying.

Experience: I have over 9 years experience working in the secondary and post 16 education sectors. I am currently leading the English department in a highly successful comprehensive school (90% pass rate (grades 4-9) in English) teaching students of all abilities from the age of 11 to 16. I am also a highly experienced tutor, having worked with a range of students of different abilities and ages, achieving a 100% pass rate about which I am very proud.

I am a passionate and professional graduate who has undergone the challenging `Teach First` leadership development programme. I am currently recognised as an `outstanding` practitioner by the school that I work for, and have a proven track record of outstanding GCSE and A-Level results.

Furthermore, I am also an examiner for a major exam board, meaning that I can offer students a unique insight into what exam boards are looking for in their responses. My tutoring is therefore highly effective, as I know precisely where students need to improve in order to achieve the best possible grades in their final exams.

Finally, as a Head of Department, I feel that I`m right at the forefront of the profession; I also have an excellent working knowledge of the new English specification (due for first examination in Summer 2017) so can also offer tuition that meets the needs of the very latest specifications.
